# Troubleshooting

> What the Writz app's messages mean and how to fix the common problems on testnet.

The app tells you what is wrong in plain words. Find the message you see below. Your funds are never at risk from any of these: on testnet they are test coins, and a failed or declined step never moves BTC out of a lock.

## Wallets and networks

**Wrong network** (Stellar)

Your Stellar wallet is on Mainnet or another network. Switch it to **Testnet**: in Freighter, select the globe icon at the top and choose **Testnet** ([details](https://docs.writz.xyz/guides/set-up-freighter.md#2-switch-to-testnet)).

**Wrong network** (Bitcoin), or a message asking you to switch Xverse to Bitcoin signet

Xverse is on Bitcoin mainnet, Testnet3 or Testnet4. In Xverse, open **Settings**, then **Network**, select **Signet** and **Save**. Then select **Connect Xverse** again ([details](https://docs.writz.xyz/guides/set-up-xverse.md#2-switch-to-signet)).

**You declined in your wallet. Nothing was shared.**

You closed or rejected the wallet window. Select the connect button again and approve it in the wallet.

**Account not funded** or **Not funded**

The Stellar account has no XLM, so it can't pay fees. Select **Fund with Friendbot**, then **Check again** if shown.

**Low XLM**

Fewer than 2 XLM left. Fund the account again from Friendbot (in Freighter, or **Test XLM from Friendbot** in the Wallets panel).

## Test funds

**Not enough BTC**

Your Xverse payment address has less signet BTC than the amount you chose. Get more from a [signet faucet](https://docs.writz.xyz/guides/get-test-funds.md#test-btc-on-bitcoin-signet), wait for it to arrive, and select **Check balance again**.

**Faucet coins don't show up**

Check that you sent them to the Xverse **payment** address, not the ordinals address, and that Xverse is on **Signet**. Faucets send in batches, so give it a few minutes. You can paste the address into [mempool.space/signet](https://mempool.space/signet) to see incoming transactions.

**USDC added: Not yet**, or Circle's faucet fails

Your account has not opted in to USDC. Open **Lend** and select **Add USDC**, confirm in your wallet, then request from the faucet again ([details](https://docs.writz.xyz/guides/get-test-funds.md#test-usdc-on-stellar-testnet)).

**USDC shows in my wallet but not in Writz**

You probably have Blend test USDC, a different token. Writz uses Circle's testnet USDC, issuer `GBBD47IF6LWK7P7MDEVSCWR7DPUWV3NY3DTQEVFL4NAT4AQH3ZLLFLA5`. Get it from [faucet.circle.com](https://faucet.circle.com) with **Stellar Testnet** selected.

## While borrowing

**Not seen yet**: *Bitcoin hasn't seen this transaction yet.*

The deposit has not reached the Bitcoin network yet. If Xverse shows it as sent, wait a few minutes and select **Check again**. Use **View on mempool** to watch it.

**Can't reach the Writz relayer. Retrying on its own.**

The service that reads Bitcoin for the app is briefly unreachable. Nothing to do: it retries, and your BTC is safe on Bitcoin.

**Waiting for the Writz relayer to see it**

Your deposit has its confirmations and Writz is catching up with the latest Bitcoin block. This usually clears within a few minutes.

**You declined in Freighter. Your BTC is still safe in the lock.**

You rejected the Stellar signature that registers the deposit. Select **Sign again**.

**One more step adds your loan**

The deposit is recorded on Stellar but the app has not loaded it yet. Select **Finish deposit**.

**The confirmation count is slow**

Bitcoin signet blocks come about every 10 minutes on average, and a single block can take much longer. You can close the page; the deposit keeps confirming and the app picks it up when you come back in the same browser.

## While repaying and releasing

**Wallet balance lower than what you owe**

The Repay tab shows both, for example *Wallet: 120.00 USDC. You owe 1,500.00 USDC.* Get more test USDC from [Circle's faucet](https://docs.writz.xyz/guides/get-test-funds.md#test-usdc-on-stellar-testnet), or repay part now and the rest later.

**Different Bitcoin account**

The release must be signed by the Xverse account that made the deposit. Select **Use a different account** and connect that one.

**Connect Xverse to sign the release.**

Xverse is not connected. Select **Connect Xverse**.

**Waiting for Writz**

Writz is co-signing your release, usually within a minute. Come back later if it takes longer; your loan stays repaid and the BTC stays in the lock until you release it.

## Network and service

**Can't reach Stellar testnet right now. Your funds are not affected.**

The Stellar testnet node did not answer. Select **Try again** in a moment.

**Loans not loaded**

The app could not read your loans. Select **Try again**. Your loans are on Stellar and nothing is lost.

## Still stuck?

[Open an issue on GitHub](https://github.com/WritzProtocol/writz/issues) with the message you see, the page you were on and, if there is one, the transaction link. Never post a recovery phrase or secret key.
